예레미야(Jeremiah) 31:23-40(유다의 회복 약속과 새 언약)

하나님은 유다의 회복과 새 언약을 주십니다. 새 언약은 그들의 마음 속에 기록하실 것이고 회복된 백성들은 하나님의 보호 하에서 돌보심을 받아 백성들과 성읍을 '의의 처소, 거룩한 산'으로 만드시겠다는 약속입니다.

23.  This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "When I bring them back from captivity, the people in the land of Judah and in its towns will once again use these words: `The LORD bless you, O righteous dwelling, O sacred mountain.'

24.  People will live together in Judah and all its towns -- farmers and those who move about with their flocks.

25.  I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint."

26.  At this I awoke and looked around. My sleep had been pleasant to me.

유다의 회복 약속과 새 언약

23.  이스라엘의 하나님 만군의 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “내가 그들의 포로들을 돌아오게 할 때 유다 땅과 그 성읍들의 사람들이 다시 이런 말을 하게 될 것이다. ‘의의 처소여, 거룩한 산이여, 여호와께서 네게 복을 주신다.’

24.  유다와 그의 모든 성읍들에 농부들과 양 떼를 몰고 다니는 사람들이 다 함께 살 것이다.

25.  내가 고갈한 영혼을 만족시켰고 시들은 영혼을 새롭게 했기 때문이다.”

26.  이에 내가 깨어나 둘러보았다. 내 잠이 내게 달콤했다.

23-26절 하나님이 포로된 자에서 데리고 올 때, 유다땅에 있는 백성들과 성읍을 '의의 처소, 거룩한 산(righteous dwelling, sacred mountain)'으로 만드시겠다고 하십니다. 유다와 그 마을에서 사람들이 다 함께 살 것이라고 하십니다. 더 이상의 고갈한 영혼, 시들은 영혼은 없습니다. 매일 불안에 떨었던 그들에게 하나님의 보호 하에서 평안한 휴식처가 될 것입니다.

27.  "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will plant the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the offspring of men and of animals.

28.  Just as I watched over them to uproot and tear down, and to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant," declares the LORD.

27.  “여호와의 말이다. 내가 이스라엘의 집과 유다의 집을 사람의 씨와 짐승의 씨로 심을 날들이 오고 있다.

28.  내가 그들을 지켜보아 뽑고, 붕괴시키고, 무너뜨리고, 파괴하고, 재앙을 가져왔듯이 그들을 지켜보아 세우고 심을 것이다. 여호와의 말이다.

27-28절 심판의 날에 뽑고 붕괴시키고 무너뜨리고 파괴하고 재앙을 가지고 왔던 이스라엘의 집과 유다의 집에는 다시 집들이 재건되고 사람과 동물의 씨로 심겠다고 약속하십니다.

29.  "In those days people will no longer say, `The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.'

30.  Instead, everyone will die for his own sin; whoever eats sour grapes -- his own teeth will be set on edge.

29.  그때에는 사람들이 더 이상 ‘아버지가 신 포도를 먹었으니 그 자식들의 이가 시다’라고 말하지 않을 것이다.

30.  모든 사람이 각각 자기 죄로 인해 죽을 것이다. 신 포도를 먹는 자는 누구나 자기 이가 시릴 것이다.

29-30절 아버지의 죄를 자식에게 묻지 않으십니다. 당대의 죄는 당대에서 끝나고 내리물림되지 않습니다. 나의 징계는 내 잘못으로 인한 징계이기 때문입니다. 조상의 죄도 아니고 자식들의 죄도 아닙니다.

31.  "The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

32.  It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them," declares the LORD.

33.  "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

34.  No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, `Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

31.  여호와의 말이다. 내가 이스라엘의 집과 유다의 집과 새 언약을 맺을 날들이 오고 있다.

32.  이 언약은 그들의 조상들의 손을 붙잡고 이집트 땅에서 나오게 하던 날 내가 그들의 조상과 맺은 언약과는 같지 않다. 내가 그들의 남편이었음에도 그들은 내 언약을 깨뜨렸다. 여호와의 말이다.

33.  여호와의 말이다. 이것이 내가 그날들 후에 이스라엘의 집과 맺을 언약이다. 내가 내 율법을 그들의 생각 속에 주고 그들의 마음에 기록할 것이다. 그리하여 나는 그들의 하나님이 되고 그들은 내 백성이 될 것이다.

34.  그들은 각자 자기 이웃에게 또는 자기 형제에게 더 이상 ‘여호와를 알라’ 하고 말하지 않을 것이다. 이는 가장 작은 사람들부터 가장 큰 사람들까지 그들 모두가 나를 알 것이기 때문이다. 내가 그들의 죄를 용서하고 그들의 죄를 더 이상 기억하지 않을 것이다. 여호와의 말이다.”

31-34절 하나님은 새 언약에 대하여 설명하십니다. 이스라엘의 집과 맺을 언약은 그들의 조상과 맺은 언약과 다르다고 새 언약은 율법을 그들의 생각 속에 주고 그들의 마음에 기록하시겠다고 합니다. 그래서 하나님과 백성의 관계가 완전하게 됩니다. 그리고 백성들의 죄를 용서하시고 더 기억하지 않을 것이라고 선언하십니다.

35.  This is what the LORD says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar -- the LORD Almighty is his name:

36.  "Only if these decrees vanish from my sight," declares the LORD, "will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be a nation before me."

37.  This is what the LORD says: "Only if the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth below be searched out will I reject all the descendants of Israel because of all they have done," declares the LORD.

38.  "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when this city will be rebuilt for me from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.

39.  The measuring line will stretch from there straight to the hill of Gareb and then turn to Goah.

40.  The whole valley where dead bodies and ashes are thrown, and all the terraces out to the Kidron Valley on the east as far as the corner of the Horse Gate, will be holy to the LORD. The city will never again be uprooted or demolished."

35.  여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “해를 낮의 빛으로 주고 달과 별을 밤의 빛으로 명하시고 바다를 흔들어 파도가 소리치게 하는 이, 그의 이름은 만군의 여호와다.

36.  여호와의 말이다. 이러한 법칙들이 내 앞에서 어긋나지 않는 한 이스라엘 자손 또한 내 앞에서 한 민족으로 남아 있기를 영원히 멈추지 않을 것이다.”

37.  여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “저 위의 하늘이 측량될 수 있고 저 아래 땅의 기초가 조사될 수 있다면 나도 이스라엘 자손들이 행한 모든 것으로 인해 이스라엘 자손들을 버릴 수 있을 것이다. 여호와의 말이다.

38.  여호와의 말이다. 보라. 이 성읍이 여호와를 위해 ‘하나넬의 탑’으로부터 ‘모퉁이 문’까지 재건될 날이 오고 있다.

39.  측량하는 줄자가 그곳에서부터 곧바로 가렙 언덕까지 갈 것이고 그 다음 고아로 돌아갈 것이다.

40.  시체들과 재의 골짜기 전체와 기드론 시내와 동쪽의 ‘말 문’ 모퉁이에 이르는 모든 들판이 여호와께 거룩한 곳이 될 것이다. 그 성읍이 결코 다시는 뽑혀 무너지지 않을 것이다.

35-40절 하나님은 당신의 백성들을 보호하시겠다고 약속하십니다. 폐허가 된 도시는 다시 재건되고 죽음의 땅도 여호와께 거룩한 곳이 되며 다시 영원히 무너지지 않습니다. 

오늘 말씀은 33절로 선택합니다. 매일성경의 설명처럼, 하나님과 이스라엘의 옛 언약이 돌판에 기록되었다면 새 언약은 마음 속에 기록되도록 하신다는... 심판과 징계에 대한 말이 계속 나오다가 용서, 회복, 새 언약 등의 단어들은 우리에게 새로운 약속을 주고 있습니다.
